Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Have the matching Whirlpool version of this dryer. If combined with the low extraction of the washing machine then yes, drying times are going to be LONG. Even with my high final high speed spin Miele, it takes about 30 minutes to dry half load of mixed items. You may wish to look into getting a spin dryer to help remove more water before drying.

Personally I dry heavy thick items like towels on the line until they are damp dry, then pop them into the dryer to finish and fluff.

If you have not done so already, clean out the inside of the lint filter area, and up inside the venting duct. Depending upon prior usage you may even wish to take the back off and give the unit a good lint removal cleaning.

Best of luck

dynaflow,

Slow drying time is to be expected. I believe your dryer is only a 110V. Eventually it will heat up pretty hot but it takes a while. I had one once and it wasn't as bad as long as you did a string of loads one after the other. The washer is great though! It's a good set to have.

My dryer though 110v is 1350watts, which is not too shabby. Today's modern small dryers are around 1000w or 1200w, cannot remember last time I peaked at one in Sears.

Have always wondered since one can safely get 1500w off a 20amp circut, would it be possible to crank up one of these vintage dryers to get faster results.

Some on the board have said they backed their portable dryers up to a radiator. Helps dry quicker, but wrinkle-reducing cood-downs will no longer effective!

why i bought

i got this one for one of my little old ladies 85 that has never had a dryer her clothes line is so far from the house thought this would help plus no room for a normal dryer
probably the only thing she will use it for is sheets
