Cathy and I would love to dress up our kitchen with some poster-sized blow-ups of vintage appliance ads but the darn things are darn near impossible to find!

Specifically, we'd like any old Hotpoint ad or the earliest specimen of an ad for a Hotpoint range with a self-cleaning oven to hang near our new Hotpoint gas range (yeah, yeah, I know, Hotpoint was GE's all-electric upscale brand way back when), any ad for an early GE frost-free or self-defrosting refrigerator and any old ad for a Maytag dishwasher.

Any help is appreciated.

Appliance poster

I did see a Billboard poster of the "Lonely Maytag repairman" hung on the whole wall of the Maytag dealer in Manassas VA. Asked him if he wanted to sell it-The dealer didn't.He was going to keep it.He also had many Lonely Repairmen Standees.Don't know if that dealer is still in business.Knew it from 95-99.

JoeEKaitis:
have you tried asking at your appliance dealers around you(esp if you have purchased appliances from them)They may give you some-I have done this with vacuum cleaner advertising posters.Something to try-You may get them free! I also collect movie posters and banners-unlike movie posters I wouldn't think appliance posters would have much "value" The dealers probably throw them out when their time is done.-but darn-couldn't get that Billboard Maytag poster at that applaince place-should have bought from him!!He also had a collection of several vintage Maytag machines-and they all worked. He got them as trade ins on new Maytags.

You might also take a magazine add to Kinkos or a shop like that and have it blown up,I save all the POD`s to a file and if I ever get time I`m going to make some T-shirts with these adds. Good luck, Joe and Cathy!

ads

You can get them enlarged to 11 x 17 on most color copiers- try to go for a Canon machine- you get really good color repro. Usually color copy paper is acid- free, but it warps/gets wavy over time. I do that all the time.

For some reason, when I check Ebay listings, I very frequently get one of those "we're sorry, item unavailable due to government restrictions in your country" messages. For items being sold from the USA and denominated in dollars, no less. Items that have no possible relevance to anything that any law enforcement or national defense agency could concievably have the slightest interest in.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?
