Anyone going in for the kill?

Needed something last month that couldn't find locally nor elsewhere online. Amazon had it at a good price and as usual threw in free shipping if one signed up for Prime. So they got me again! *LOL* Having discontiued membership several months ago before increase, now must decide if wish to pay for another month to get Prime Day specials, or just let it go....

Be very careful with Amazon. There is some sort of trouble there. For some time, different items are being substituted for goods previously purchased under the same name. I had gummy candy shipped that not only was not the former brand, but was lacking an ingredients label. I told the seller I would not accept a food product with no ingredient information. I got a refund. Check the customer reviews carefully and make sure the seller accepts returns. Amazon is turning more and more into eBay.
 
Only things I’ll order are appliance parts but even then I am a little skeptical of Amazon. I’d NEVER buy food off of Amazon, one of the most foolish things anyone could ever do plus it’s dubious to receive a candy or food item without the listing of ingredients as mentioned in reply #1. Of course, younger folks such as millennials like the convenience of ordering things online but it’s foolish to rely on a tycoon who’s practically becoming a monopoly for your grocery and food items but apparently it’s “too inconvenient” for millennials to go to the store and back to get what you need.
 
About Amazon

I'll add my "two cents" to the Amazon discussion.
I have 2 items on "subscribe and save".
1 of the items, I needed more of before the subscription shipment so I went on Amazon to search for the item.
I found the same item (just a different box design - one is a dispenser box and one is not) for a lower price than my "subscribe and save" price. About $3 lower, in fact.
Needless to say, I cancelled subscribe and save for that item and bought 2 of the lower priced item.
As most probably know, subscribe and save does not "lock in" a price. The price can go up or do down with each subscribe and save shipment.

Prime Days? I've never taken advantage of it. I think I looked once and found nothing of interest to me.

1-2 day shipping for Prime items (Prime membership). Not always. I ordered an item Monday that was to arrive Wednesday and was notified Wednesday that the delivery was "delayed". So much for THAT!
 
We buy a fair amount of stuff on Amazon and for the most part it's been fine. Up until two days ago we've never had a hassle trying to return something. I bought an air fryer last October and it stopped working Monday evening and is still under the one year warranty. I contacted the seller through Amazon and they replied that I was to contact the manufacturer. I contacted the manufacturer (Gourmia) who were very prompt and courteous but told me that they only sold their products in Canada through Costco and that I'd bought it from a 3rd party seller. Amazon does have an A to Z replacement refund policy so I tried online to contact them but I couldn't get them at all. THey purposely make it difficult. So I looked up their customer service phone numbers which is nowhere I could find on the Amazon site.. Googling found it. I had to try 3 different numbers to get an actual person but once I did he was very good. He forwarded the sellers initial response to me, back to them, and told them that the manufacturer will not honor 3rd party sellers. I'm to await a response from the seller now.. and was told by the Amazon rep that if they do not issue a refund or replacement that Amazon will refund my money. So I wait and see. But other than that, everything has been tickety boo.

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">We use key delivery to have them open the garage and place the boxes inside.  For the most part, wwe've never had an issue until the other day.  I ordered something and the box arrived with the package inside but the package was empty.  Very odd.  Like someone opened it and removed the contents.  I reached out to the manufacture via the Amazon link and they told me to call Amazon.  I too had to Google it because it was nowhere to be found on their website.  At least I couldn't find it.  When I got them on the phone there was no issue.  I told her what happened and she told I would have a replacement the next day which I did, key delivery and all.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">When I am buying on amazon I am very careful to watch for specific brand names, etc. and I have always received what I ordered.  I thought someone told me there was a way to indicate whether or not you will accept substitutions.  I've never found the option but never had anything substituted so maybe I checked it a long time ago.  I've been shopping on Amazon for years because shopping here in Little Rock is a little dicey if you're a bit of a "Label Queen."  Just sayin'</span>
 
 buy a little food on Amazon.  I get a 60 count K cup - much cheaper than in stores.  I also get/got instant potatoes, used to get them at Sam's but NLA in store. Funny thing the box came and it said Sam's all over it.
 
Thanks!  Interesting, I'll check them out.  I get Idahoan Real Mashed Potatoes, different quality than the Idahoan in the grocery store, much like the NLA Potato Buds from years ago.
 
Amazon versus Ebay

I've bought quite a bit on both. At first Amazon was the better deal with Prime. At least 75% of the time I find Im buying it off Ebay now to save money over Amazon.
 
You have to know your prices & merchandise

Many times have bought things off fleaPay only to find out thing came from Amazon. Am speaking about not just an Amazon.com box/container but receipt and other bits as well.

Same item can cost more or less on Amazon.com compared to fleaPay. Then there is fact eBay item may or may not have free shipping, but if you're on Prime or order $25 worth of goods from Amazon.com, you get free shipping.

It is really scary and quite bewildering how deep Amazon is embedded with third party sellers, and you don't know what is what until something goes wrong.
 
As an example.....

I've found I can buy a 146 load bottle of Persil Pro Clean on Ebay cheaper than I can locally. It always comes from a Sams in Indiana even though its usually different sellers. Free shipping each time.
 
What is Amazon?

My online searches for products became much more pleasant once I blocked amazon.com in all my browsers.

I'll support the retailers directly vs allowing a grifter in the middle to leach their profits. They need all the help they can get today.
