Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted about any new Maytag finds (the pinks are great Ben!), but truth be told, this summer has been very busy. Work the 9-5 then off to the land 'till dark. For those who've been inquiring, here's an update!

This week a crew came out to re-erect the rear wall that came down after a powerful storm a few weeks ago. Imagine my surprise driving out there and seeing the whole upstairs was gone! 2x6 construction, fully sheathed and 48' long.

Next were the impressive LVL beams we've been building up. Three rows of 1/2" x 6" bolts 12" OC. More will go in when the hardware store gets with the program! The diagonals are approximately 600 lbs. I'm painting the hardware black and the beams are stained in redwood and sealed.

I'm getting a bit tired of drilling through plate steel. Anyone who's done it before knows what it's like when the bit grabs...repeatedly! For perspective, that's me next to the LVLs.

And finally a wide-angle shot with all three beams in place. Pics can't really do it justice. I've got some more drilling to do tomorrow before throwing additional braces across the back. But soon, perhaps a roof?! -Cory
