So yesterday may well have been one of my luckier days - no sooner did I get off the phone to arrange to see the Fridigaire washer I wound up buying, but I got an email from Midwest Timer saying they fixed the Westy timer and it was ready to ship!!
So, of the three major hurdles, I now just have to find the door boot (got my work cut out for me there!). Still, I am remaining optimistic!

oooohhhh nice one, i cant wait to see the pics of your westy up and running. with me being the other side of the pond sadly i cant help with the door boot but i am sure one will turn up soon....

Don't laugh, but I have been thinking that I might be able to retrofit (what an appropriate word) a UK model door boot. Added bonus - my partner's mum lives in the UK and she comes to visit at least once a year...

you probably could, if you could send size of boot required ie depth width my friend has a second hand washer an dryer shop and he has piles of them stacked up and i could go a hunting lol i am sure i could get a close match as he has almost every make an model door seals from when he scraps the ones that cant be saved

Robbie, that would be amazing! I will try and find the dimensions and let you know. Thanks very much!!!

Actually, it wasn't. The timer motor was the problem - it was dead. They replaced the motor with a used one and it was fine. Could've done it myself if I had access to the motors!
Didn't they recently refuse some repairs??
Oh, BTW, send me those belts any time! I'm going to need a couple for the Westy myself.

no probs, i will be made up to help get another westy front loader up and running i love the look of those machines... bags first dibs on the maiden wash lol

let me know and will see what i can send over, as i said i am sure i can get a near fit

yea for you and a good timer.. the boot job is not all that bad. its not fun but youll get it.. greg taught me and if i can do i you can too.. greg is so cool

I'm excited to see the money-shot of the '63 you got.
Glad to hear of another survivor. Is the original energy-ring/detergent column still intact?
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!
