Unfortunately . . .
there is at present no change planned for our U.S. Constitution to force the federal government to recognize gay marriage. This means there is no way for you to move here and bring your husband along as a legal spouse like you could if you were half of a straight couple. Proposition 8 affects only California law and thus has no effect on immigration status. If your husband can gain legal residency and Proposition 8 is overturned then you could marry and that marriage would be recognized here in California and a few other states (Massachusets, Connecticut, and New York come to mind). I have some good friends who just married, one of whom is a US citizen while the other is British but has legal residency here in the US.
Maybe under Obama things will get better in Washington - they can hardly get worse - but don't hold your breath as he has already stated that he doesn't support gay marriage. His little "marriage is between a man and a woman" sound bites were evidently given to the pro-Proposition 8 forces and included in telephone calls to potential supporters. He then said he didn't support 8, which was nice of him, but it doesn't give me confidence that he would support any plan to recognize gay marriage.
You might investigate what the situation is in Canada, especially British Columbia if the west coast interests you. It's a nice place and all in all life is very similar to what you'd find here in California. If you must be here in the US then you'll have to figure out some way for your husband to get a green card on his own.
