Pulled the Ol’ trusty Neptune back into service!

Hard to believe Neptune’s are hitting the 20 year old mark!
I sold my whirlpool Duet just a week before moving.
I can’t believe how fast it can get a load done! 39 minutes!
Anyone else have an old Neptune as a daily driver?

RJ's Neppy 6500 is down, probably bad motor board.  It had been throwing an occasional locked rotor fault for several months, settled down for a while, then went dead couple weeks ago.

I previously changed the console/button panel (used via eBay), Start button was stuck.

This is the stacking set that came with the house we moved into a year ago.  I was on the fence about making them my daily drivers, but after consulting with a couple of members here I decided to ditch our 2008 Affinity pair and go with these older, over-built Newton Neptunes.

 

I have no regrets, and am particularly pleased to have simple analog controls again.  As was mentioned above, the Neptune washer completes cycles quickly and efficiently manages any balancing issues, which are few and far between.  The Affinity would often spend nearly half an hour just trying to balance a load, and would often give up entirely.  I've only had a few instances with the Neptune where spun items were still wetter than usual, and running it through another spin cycle quickly resolved the issue.

 

The only thing lacking is an on-board heater but I'm not running a hospital here, so it's fine.  I really hope if any major repairs are needed on the washer down the road, that I'll be able to find someone to work on it.   The Neptune is the closest thing to an old school no nonsense FL washer as you can get.

 

The dryer tends to run hot, which I think is normal.  I use delicate and medium heat most of the time.  Only towels get dried on the highest heat setting.

I use the 4500s as a daily driver and I cant be more impressed. Cuts the water consumption in half and you get to wash a bit more than a A712. Cleans exceptionally well, excellent stain removal, reasonable wash time, and doesnt have issue getting up to spin speed. Definitley a must for any collection.

Ralph, my LDE9824 is the foundation for Neppy dryers.  Glenn tells me it was born September 1994 and I adopted it December 7, 1994.  When I still had the LK washer, my towel loads were dried on Regular (High); Wrinkle Free/PP on Medium and what didn't fall into those categories was done on Delicate.  When the Fridgemore arrived October 2006, I ceased using Regular for anything.  Just shifted the above load categories to Medium and Low.  There wasn't much change when the Duet arrived December 2011.  I'll divide full washer loads in about half when it's clothes and sheets.  Towels sometimes I do.  Even when I don't the heat shuts off in about 30-35 minutes.  Not bad considering when towel loads came out of the LK, they took 45 to 50 minutes before the heat turned off and started cool-down.

I have the 4000 series, which makes the jet sound too! The 4000 series is my favorite because it has a recirculation pump. It’s amazing when the circ pump tunes on, how much soap comes out!

I have one love it wont give it up even got a used one and reuilt it for my partner ha ha made him get rid of his nasty skinny tub fast stroke whirlpool. its been a total trooper for me
