Waste King
Matt,
Waste King was always a premium model, well made and they WORKED too! Almost all major appliance makers had a disposal in their lines at some point, and gradually theu all faded away, even Waste King. Today Waste King is made by Anaheim Manufacturing.
You are right, the "hush cushion" on the WK is very similar to what ISE is using on their new models.
Waste King pioneered the swivel hammers, and was the first continuous feel disposer on the market. Everyone else was batch feed, with GE leading that pack.
The model Greg found today is from 1955 or 56, and is the 2nd generation Waste King. This machine would evolve a 3rd time about 1959 and then go on to be made for 30+ years in various forms as the Imperial Hush, and laters models SS5000-SS8000
I have a mid-line Waste King from 1989 installed in my kitchen sink at present, its a wonderful machine and has never let me down. A way better disposal than ISE!
