Purple Hotpoint Liberator... is it this one?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Got distracted by a 1851/03....

....and forgot to reply - sorry guys.

Hi Rob and Twinkytwinny

Thanks for the kind words. You wait 25 years to see one and then they all decide to come out the woodwork over a couple of months. Mad eh.

Twinkytwinny - re the toploader - some major repair work has been carried out on the 1509/05 toploader and it is currently in the care of Chestermike. Just waiting for a convenient date for it to be delivered to me, then a thread will be produced telling the story of the other Stoke Damerel High School for Girls resident!

I just wait for the day when we can get a nice setting for them all, then I have my heart on recreating the 1976 Hotpoint brochure with all the machines. Just a bit of fun.

Cheers for commenting

OMG how have you managed to hold out this long before you plumbed in and switch on, I just couldn’t do it.

Hi Lee.

Its circumstances unfortunately and yep, its getting painful.

There should be movement with it soon though as I showed my dad what needed doing with the kickstrip. He thinks getting a nice shade of oh so dark blue car paint (Citroen Midnight Blue paint Mike?) shouldnt be an issue.

Its a case of finding a weekend to deal with it now! Who knows - the paint job will require my mums car being moved out of the garage! Who knows what else might happen!!!

Brief update.

Halfords was visited on Saturday and a can of Peugeot Midnight Blue car spray paint was procured.

The cap shade looks a nice match and Mike has used a similar shade on his 1509/10 Liberator toploader, with superb results.

Fingers crossed it will look ok once in situ. Mind you, anything in a shade of dark blue/purple or even black would look better than the machines existing sickly brown kicktrip.

Greets from Germany,
