Paul painstakingly cleaned up old "Libby" after collecting her, doing a fab job as always she was worthy of being shown.

Thankyou to Paul for the love, effort and affection her put into her.

All washed up and polished she shows her real beauty despite her previous owners deciding to paint her once navy kickstrip a nice shade of S*** brown.

Anyone any ideas as to the correct shade and the best way to make her original again we would love to hear.

No jokes here - this really is a true Hotpoint Liberator 1828 as she left the factory with 3 legged suspension, back panel incl ratings plate, motor - early and slightly different to the later GEC motors.

No fakes here.

Our beloved "Libby" has arrived!

I'm speechless! I take it this is the one from Manchester? Is she working? The motor will sound interesting... Now only that we have at least one of the 2nd gen Hotpoint FL's have been found maybe our "Holy Grail" 1600/1830 will pop up by surprise. I hope I can feel the excitement of finding a rarity sometime. Show us more Rob! Congrats to you and Paul!

Rare finds

Paul & Rob
Excellent find (at last) when you think how many dryers are still floating about but the poor washers rarely survived as long

Well it comes together now, so where it did it come from?

Gary

Well done guys

Truly amazing restoration. I never thought I would see the day that one of these would be found let alone restored so well.

Hotpoint

Hi Paul & Rob

Just love your new find. I use to love the purple range of Hotpoint washers.

I sure the kickplate was painted a dark grey colour.

Videos please.

Paul

Great!

Well done boys, another holy grail ticked off the list! Glad you've both found one of 'em. Is she in good working order?

You might be interested in the link below regarding the soap drawer discolouration, although I can quite understand if you left it alone! Keep meaning to try it myself on some ABS plastics...

I had one of those Hot-Point dryers a long time ago in a previous life. It worker superbly it was virtually silent as well and lasted for ever. I left it behind when I moved. I think my ex that lives in the flat now may still be using it. I must check next time I see them. I know the Miele washer is still going 34 years later.

plastic yellowing

hey guys, firsty congrats on such a savage find,im kicking myself as had two of these beauties years ago but was ignorant to how rare they would become, and (kicking myself) dumped them
on the subjesct of plastic yellowing iv picked up many machines which were as yellow as a banana, only by chance i found a way of getting rid of it was to leave the plastic out in a few showers of rain,it seems to bring it back to white....try it and see

congrats again lads on a great find

OMG OMG OMG, WOW WOW
I can’t speak.

Rob, from what I remember of mine the kick strip was black or at least a very dark royal blue.

She is in great shape; do you have the year of manufacture?

I can’t wait for some videos.

I have shown my interest in justmadit’s liberator which might be up for sale.

Hey Guys..

Now i know I maybe losing my mind..but was there ever a Hotpoint Liberator washer with 5 coloured buttons..?

Shortly after my mum got rid of her Liberator Toploader, she went onto a stacking washer/dryer, as we had recenly moved to our newly built house that my dad had finished building and it had a utility room, the stacking option gave more space..I am sure it had 5 buttons, 1 white and 4 deceasing shades of purple buttons..??
Cheers
Keith
