My question is this: Is there a way I can bump the water fill level up at all? Another 2 inches of water makes ALL the difference with decent turn over in this machine. I can stand there while it fills and hold the water level switch in the "reset" position, but it's getting to be a PITA! The model of this Maytag is LAT5006AAE and was built in 1996. Thanks in advance....

I don't think in 1996 they had limited water fills in washing machines yet. We have a 1993 Whirlpool and the water goes up slightly past the holes in the wash basket.

However earlier we had a Maytag 1985 machine. We got rid of it because it didn't have much of a rollover during the wash cycle. Because of this I always thought Maytags were boring machines. But now that I am more educated about such matters(thanks to people here) I found that this slow wash action results in much gentler handling of clothing that is being washed.

Others may want to comment on this too...
