In what years did they manufacture the Power Surge vs the model with an agitator that used vacuum to squeeze water out of clothes instead of spinning?

Economat was early 50's, Power Surge was '56.
The Power Surge was only made for a couple of years and the design was then adapted to the '59 Philco Automagic washer after the sale of Bendix to Philco in 57-58.

The Economat was made up through '57, the WGH. G for '57 and H for the higher end Economat.
Not sure if this was a contractual thing with the sale of Bendix to Philco from Avco or not, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to have not only two versions of front load washing (Gyromatic & Duomatic), along with the Economat AND Power Surge top loaders available in '56 and '57, AND Philco having their own top load washer available in '57, based on the Dexter-Beam hybrid.

The Bendix Economat was the first automatic washer my family owned. We got it when we moved into a new home in Nov 1954, so I’m guessing that it may have been an early 1955 model.

I recall past mention that Whirlpool looked at the PowerSurge and AutoMagic designs when developing the Calypso. True, or no?
