Kenny, I have a "Crown" 1-18 Model #WC-6. How do I determine the vintage from the model number. Does it break down to W=Washer, C=Crown,-6= 1976? Thanks!! Steve
Thanks Kenny, I just used that information to surprise myself. Discovered my 1-18 is a model year older than I thought---a 1975. It is in such good shape it is hard to believe just to look at it! --Steve
I don't know how far back that information holds. I just checked a "J" model Frigidaire refrigerator I picked up,and the serial # started with 8. J is a 1965.

You can also find the year the machine was manufactured on the schematic wiring diagram usually glued to the outer tub of the 1-18's or on the back panel of the older machines. That's how I've identified my 1974 & 1966 Frigidaires...
My Parent's had a 1966 Frigidaire Custom Deluxe Washer, the Model Number was: WCDK with the "K" being the year of 1966. I know, because I bought it for them at our local Breuner's Store, when it was still Downtown. Although I used their "Charg-A-Plate" that was a generic Charge-Card-Like ability to use at most larger Department Stores here in Sacramento, CA. Those were the days!!!
Everyone's advice is well taken. I originally thought the machine to be a 1976. It sure is fun to use and along with the '56 "Unimatic" can be counted on NOT to walk around on my old hardwood floors!
