My neighbor's elderly aunt passed away recently and the contents of her house are being distributed among her relatives. The neighbor's current washer and dryer are a 15 year old Hotpoint washer and an older Kenmore dryer. Both work fine and he and his wife are satisfied with them. However, if they wish to pick them up, they can have the aunt's matched Maytag "Quiet Plus II" set. Nobody seems to remember how old they are, but they are in mint shape.

Does anyone here know when Maytag used the "Quiet Plus II" name, and if they're good quality traditional Maytags or the later Amanatags? He doesn't own a truck so if he gets them he'll have to pay to have them delivered across the city, which he is willing to do if they're good machines.

Thanks to those who answer!

I have a pair of Dependable Care Quiet Plus

I bought in 1995. I have never had a problem with mine. I will assume the Quiet Plus II are newer than mine.

Quiet Plus II machines....

are the last of the real Maytags....great machines. I have '97 models for my daily drivers and no repairs in 11 years.

Thanks very much guys . . .

I've passed this information along to my neighbor and I think he'll end up getting them. He's going to check the model numbers just to be sure. The nice thing is that his aunt lived alone for the entire time she had the machines, so they have been very lightly used.

BTW Emilio, my neighbor's name is Emil!

Thank you, Emilio!

I have the exact same models. I love them almost as much as if they were human.

Thank you for posting.

I have the gas heated dryer. I love the end-of-cycle chime, and have been known to use the Permanent Press cycle and the extended no-heat tumble, just to hear the chime. :)
