question for owners of maytag maxima washer dryer set

hello to all aw members,

I have a questions for owners of the Maytag maxima washer dryer set I would like to know well the maytag maxima washer wash when it comes to clothes and how well it eliminate stains as well as the best cycle and as for the dryer is it best to use auto cycle or time dry? that's my first question my second question is compare to the whirlpool duet is there a difference in term of clean clothes? the reason of this thread is because I went to be able to well advise my mom and the most important question is on the maytag maxima what cycle use a bit more water?

thank you for all answers including pics of target washer dryer set but will first see what the tech will say since the old dryer will be check by a service tech first.

Pierre, what kind of stains are you concerned about. I do not think the current Duets or Maximas are any different than my 2011 Duet. The Maxima has Allergen cycle and PowerWash cycle. The former is good for dealing with dust mites, pet dander, and such. I like using that cycle for towels and whites as well as my sheets. Thee St3eam for Stains option is available any time you select warm, hot, or extra hot wash temperatures (and tis is applicable also for Duets). Steam for Stains is an option for Whites, Normal, Bulky Items, Towels, Sanitary, Power Wash, and Wrinkle Control on the Maxima. Steam for Stains is available as an option on the Duet for Whites, Sanitary, Bulky Items, as well as Heavy Duty. These are both extremely flexible machines with various cycles and steam for stains option and flexibility of water temps across all cycles, except for the cold water cycle.

Always use the auto dry cycles. Each of those cycles uses a specific drying temperature. You don't necessarily chose the cycle for what the cycle label says, but what drying temperature you want. At normal dryness level, if you find loads come out slightly damp, you are able to make some adjustments in sensitivity of dryness level based uponhj instructions in the user manual.

Frigilux loved his Maxima pair. Once he got his set, he could understand why I love my Duet so much. And I constantly end up with very difficult stains that the washer fully removes with the appropriate cycles, temperatures, options, and detergents.

You always wash in cold, correct? I would try to buy one with the cold wash if I were you. This cycle will add soaking time to increase cleaning performance while likely using more water than Normal. Just a thought. Also, the Duet and Maxima will use the same amount of water on the normal cycle. Most new machines have a water factor of around 3.2. My Duet's water factor is about 2.8 and is perfectly fine for a majority of loads.

on the maytag maxima if needed is the sanitize cycle good because sometime I have to wash certain things in warm or regular hot water amd if for my mom and I we go with the maytag maxima if sick for bedding I plan on using the sanitize cycle or cleaning rags that can be smelly at time

I never knew

you could adjust the sensitivity for the dryer sensor. How does that work? My duet dryer I usually use the normal cycle with dryness level between more dry and less dry, and they still come out a little damp. If I use more dry, they over dry.

Changing the Preset Dryness Level Settings







If all your loads on all Auto Dry cycles are consistently not as dry as you would like, you may change the preset Dryness Level settings to increase the dryness. This change will affect all of your Auto Dry cycles.





Your Dryness Level settings can be adjusted to adapt to different installations, environmental conditions or personal preference. There are 3 drying settings: 1 (factory preset dryness level), 2 (slightly drier clothes, approximately 15% more drying time), and 3 (much drier clothes, approximately 30% more drying time).

1.The Dryness Level settings cannot be changed while the dryer is running.

2.Press and hold the Dryness Level button for 5 seconds. The dryer will beep, and "CF" will be displayed for 1 second followed by the current drying setting.

3.To select a new drying setting, press the Dryness Level key again until the desired drying setting is shown. NOTE: While cycling through the settings, the current setting will not flash, but the other settings will flash.

4.Press START to save the drying setting.

5.The drying setting you selected will become your new preset drying setting for all Auto Dry cycles.

Must be something new

I don't see that at all in my manual and pressing dryness level on mine for any length of time does nothing but scroll up and down until you release the button. Oh well, the next dryer I get I will try that.

thank you mark wpduet right now the big question is maytag topload with agitator or maytag frontload model 8200 and if the water hose of old washer are still good if washer dryer are replace if service tech says dryer is beyond repair should they be keep for new washer or buy new ones I apoligize if I have lots of questions

Pierre, I'm not sure in Canada, but in the U.S., most retailers not specify you have to purchase new water inlet hoses when you buy a new washer. And if these hoses are the original hoses from when you bought the Duets, it's time. Otherwise, you might have a hose burst.

Mark, I'm sorry that didn't work out. I found your posts that had your washer model number and put in the dryer model number for the companion/matching dryer and that's where I got what I posted above for you.

I re-read those instructions and I realized I hadn't tried it with the dryer running. So I thought, cool, maybe this will work. So I turned dryer on auto dry (normal) pressed dryness level button for well over 5 seconds and nothing happened

I had to adjust mine

I moved it from F1 to F2 for 15% more drying time. It is perfect. I did this by holding the dryness setting for three seconds with the machine off.
