Question what would be the advantage of a used washer compare to brand new

hello to all aw members I have a questions what would be the advantages of buying if still sold older models from the 1970 to the first direct drive models used rather than brand new models

models I am thinking 1976 canadien Kenmore washer with roto swirl canadien inglis washer dryer model with brush filter and liquid fabric sofner that you put and remove from agitator blue agitator westing house top load or ge filter flo models that have a warm rinse?

Firsrt Machine

As I stated here before, my first washer/dryer purchase was in 1977 when I was 22 and in college. It was a GE Filter-Flo pair, the smaller capacity. I'd love to be able to buy that machine now. When I purchased my second house in 1986, I bought a large capacity GE Filter-Flo pair. I'd love to buy that pair new, now. I bought a new Speed Queen top load pair last month because it appears to be the closest thing to those fine GE washers, both of which never had a single service call. Plus, I miss the Mini Basket and the Mini Quick 15-minute cycle for small items.

If you get one

In good shape, All you have to do is use at and see the superior performance, Especially a Kenmore/Whirlpool belt drive, A Norge or a GE, Just NO comparison with todays cheaply built flimsy stuff.

These was a great looking FF set just a week or so ago on Shoppers Square. Might still be there. Up in NE New Jersey.

You're putting your laundry in a machine that is functional, hard working, and at least pretty to work at...

Being a good D-I-Y'er keeps her up on her feet, working everyday, ignoring energy costs leaves you w/ the feeling that w/ larger capacity, you are getting your laundry done--and done right the first time, not doing over...

So, you definitely blur the lines between what machines are most economical, best performing & reliable--Universalize all makes, models and years, making all equal and nothing better, nor more important, going beyond what Consumer Reports ever could teach you, especially given the hot mess it is today, as is the racket of new appliances, that quickly get used up & discarded at such a faster rate & no where near as worthy as rescuing yesterday's treasures are, Today...

The only older sets I would actually trust as a daily driver would be a Maytag set from the 80's to 90's that was an authentic Maytag mechanism. To find a set that was used little and in great shape would be terrific. I am sure there are some still out there if you look. Other than that, I would buy a new front load set along with an extended warranty.
