Questions about 2005 Maytag Atlantis FL

I have a 2005 Maytag Atlantis front loader here at home and I have a couple of questions/problems with it.

1. Ater a load ther is lint all over everything, the old maytag (1985) had a removable lint fileter, but this washer does not seem to have one.
2. It constantly wraps closts in knots around the agitator.

Is there anything that can be done to fix these problems?

Should have never gotten rid of the 85 maytag, but it had a leaking tranny and at the time I did nt know how easy that was to fix.

Atlantis FL?

I thought that the Atlantis was Maytag's hi-efficiency top-loader (their answer to the Calypso?). That machine was notorious for tying clothes in knots, among other problems. I think there was a class-action suit about those machines. Anyway, they quit making them, I believe. If this is the machine you have, there's probably nothing you can do....sorry.

Oh dear...

Such confusion over Maytag's models.

The frontloaders are called Neptune. The Atlantis is a traditional toploader. And the High Efficiency toploader was the Neptune TL.

I am confused-Is the machine in question a top loader or front loader-"It constantly wraps clothes in knots around the agitator"I am now assuming its a TL?Wasn't it the Maytag "Neptune Top Loader"that was tying and wrapping clothes?i thought the "Atlantus" machines were a more conventional design-and they did have a "DA "style agitator.

The class action law suit was only on the neptune F/L. No body knows why they quit making the neptune t/l. The t/l didnt suffer from all the problems the f/l did. Tangling was the only major issue with the t/l. The atlantis has had it corks over the years but it was nothing like the SAV or the neptune f/l. The atlantis has been known to leave some lint. I usally see a scum line in the tub, usally at the largest setting which is where most people keep it set at. The agitation was somewhat aggresive especially with some newer models that have 2sets of fins on the auger. To someone that has kids that stay dirty this is a good thing. To someone who doesnt have kid or if the kids are older, aggresive agitation can be a bit much. You may want to play with or try some different settings.

User errors.

Cut down on your washing time. The longer the time, the longer the agitator has to make lint. Overloading means that the clothes can't turn over as easily, meaning that they spend more time at the bottom of the tub with the thrashing blades. Watch detergent usage also as too much can exacerbate linting.

Be sure not to load by wrapping things around the agitator. Don't load by layering the clothes either. Drop items straight down into the tub. As Frigidaire used to say, load the washer as if the tub is divided into 4 quadrants.
