Absolutely my FAVORITE Cat Woman on the Bat Man series. Sorry to see you go, Eartha!

C'est si bon

In 1953 my mom bought the 78 rpm version of Kitt's "C'est si bon". I loved that record, but my mom would not let me play it, so she put it high up on shelf. Well, I got up on a chair and tried to reach it, I could barely touch it and it fell and broke! She was pissed.

Kitt encountered a substantial professional setback after she made anti-war statements during a White House luncheon in 1968. It was reported that she made First Lady Lady Bird Johnson cry. The public reaction to Kitt's statements was much more extreme, both for and against her statements. Publicly ostracized in the U.S., she devoted her energies to overseas performances.

Quite a talented lady.

I had the chance to see her in the late 1980s in Arizona. She put on a heck of a show. Several large, muscular, oiled men brought her on stage in a sedan chair. If I am recalling correctly she opened with a song called "I'm Still Here (from Follies)." She did make mention that by the time she got home from that luncheon her career in the US was over, so off to Europe she went.

Beside her unique voice, her stage presence was just incredible. Just one look into those eyes and she had you!
