recent acquisition

I bought this recently for 10 bucks and it's in wonderful condition. Says manufactured in February of 1977, so it'll soon be turning 31.

I THINK this may be the very first electronic control Radarange, and may have been the very first electronic control microwave from any company, but I can not swear to that.

Did Frigidaire have an electronic control microwave to go with their range from the 70's which was electronic control? If so, that may have happened a little earlier than 1977.

That looks like the same model a friend of mine had in the very late 70's. I know my faithful 1980 Panasonic is not electronic so there's a good chance your Radarange is one of the first, if not the first. I came across a couple of owners manuals for the Radarange in a thrift store recently but they were for older models with knobs instead of touchpads and dated back to the late 60's.

Hey Bob - it looks like you have one of the original RR-9 Touchmatics with the slider for the power level. Not to be confused with the much more plentiful later RR-9T and RR-9TA.

The first electronic control model was the RR-6. Service lit put the RR-6 in production sometime either late 1975 or early 1976.

I remember this as 1976

I had a home economics course in seventh grade (1976). It was this model. I remember because the teacher told us that you could not program it while wearing gloves and I thought that was the most rediculous comment. A true comment, but no one wore gloves at that point and certainly not to cook!!!!
