Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Nice Picture. Is 8.5 like a rating in a competition?

Radiant, Radical, Radiation, Radon? It would be interesting to know how they came up with the name.

Are any high sudsing laundry detergents sold in the UK or Europe? Do you have a marking or designation on the package like our HE or is it unnecessary?

The latest stupid thing I have seen here is fabric softener with the HE logo on the label. I don't know if users of new HE machines are so stupid that they would not buy a softener that did not have the HE designation or if manufacturers are just trying to spread the HE designation around as a gimmick.

There are a few high suds detergents for people who prefer it for hand washing and that still use twin tubs or US type top loaders but 99% of all of our detergent is for FL machines, or HE as you know it. When FL automatic machines became more and more popular all of the traditional brands that we know (Persil, Fairy, Daz, Surf, Ariel etc) and stuck the word 'automatic' on the end to indicate that they were for use in FL machines. Given that almost everyone has a FL machines the word has long since been dropped. I wonder what HE softener is all about?!?!?!?

Procter and Gamble

Tomturbomatic lol 8.5 is the KG capacity of the machine. Sounds a bit odd to have HE on a softner but who knows what the reasoning behind that is.
As Hoovermatic says we have high sudsing detergents here but only a very small amount and they say handwash or twin tub on them.

The Radion detergent was launched by Unilever in the Uk many years ago in 1989 but was dropped a few years back. Now what's interesting on the box is the address is listed as Radion Uk at brooklands weybridge surrey which is infact Procter and Gambles address so looks like they now own the brand.

If it was P&G, I think it would say so. The dosing instructions, address and ingredients list usually look almost identical in design on all P&G brand packs too.

Was it bought in a Poundstretcher type store? If so, I'd say it's just a private label who bought the name to try and give some kudos to the product, in the hope that people remember it. I can't really imagine P&G launching a new product with an old name from their main rival, they've got all bases covered already!

Americans would be afraid to buy it. Heck, there are still people in the USA who claim cooking in a microwave oven leaves residual radiation in the food, so something called "RADION" must leave residual radiation in your unmentionables.

Radion

Originally owned by Lever, I seem to think that it was absorbed into Lever's "Surf" brand and disappeared around 2005; something like Radion "Sunfresh" became Surf "Sunfresh".

How good is it? I used to like the "Bubblegum" fragrance of the 1990's powder.

Hello,

here's how it looked like the Unilever's Radion in Swiss and Austria.

Rolls_rapide said it right. Radion Sunfresh in Swiss is now called Surf Sunfresh.

I have also two others Radion detergents (made by Unilever). A liquid and a powder in the box, but I haven't post them yet.
