Found for 25.00...a pain to install in metal cupboards...but couldnt pass it up..wish it was wider to match the 40" wide cupboards..the switch says 3-59 on the back so its a good 50's find!

Don't Understand:
Since you already have the Nutone extractor fan, why the Vent-A-Hood?
I grew up with a Nutone, and I would love to have another. I particularly miss the ease of cleaning the Nutone vs. the cleaning of a Vent-A-Hood.

The through-the-wall vent is staying....I installed the hood so I can turn the light on and off with the switch instead of having to reach under to the fixture...and it gives the area a more finished look

Oh, Okay. But -
If anyone wants the advantages of a hood when they already have an extractor fan, there's another solution: the shell hood.
A shell hood is a hood with no innards like fan, filter, etc. It captures and guides cooking fumes toward an extractor fan. This was what we had with our Nutone when I was a kid; it was an anodized aluminum hood in a copper finish. It was far easier to clean than a vented hood.
We didn't need a hood light, because our 1948 Frigidaire RK-70 range had a huge fluorescent cooktop light. However, modern-day ranges don't have cooktop lights, so it would be necessary to install a small fixture under a shell hood.
Summit Appliance, a specialty appliance manufacturer in the Bronx, still makes shell hoods, up to 48-inch sizes; they go up with a few screws, end of project. Here's a link:
