Ran a load in the W Laundromat

I have decided to make its permanent place in the furnace room. I added an outlet and have to get the plumber to put in hookups. I extended the drain hose to the laundry tub, so for water I used the Pocket Hose...it exploded during the first rinse, so after cleaning the floor, I got the garden hose and the fitting at the faucet end blew off...so garden hoses make terrible washer hoses! The load was paint tarps and work towels that came out great) After the washer hookups are in place, Ill have the electrician add a 220v outlet for the dryer (it is higher than the washer because its on wheels),add an internal vent kit, fix the blower problem, then it will be all ready!

are beautiful Jerry! WH FL's are my favorite washers, bar none. Loved the picture of the suds and water level, I really miss how these machines washed. I am also a big JC fan. When Mommie Dearest first came out a friend gave me a tee shirt with her picture and "No more wire hangers" on it, I wore it until it wore out.

I had one of those hoses explode, but it was outside. I can imagine the mess inside. I don't think I would have laughed as much as I did if it were inside.

Thanks...the hose exploded in a foot long section near the tub...after a sweep with a dry Swiffer the floor is clean....Mrs Jenkins said it was!

Question: Is this a dispenser? If so, what is the function of the pushbuttons?

That's the bleach dispenser, you lift the lid and fill it with bleach, then press the button in the right to fill it with how much bleach you want in the load. There is a gauge that shows how much you have filled it with (it even lights up). The button on the left empties it back into the resivor if you choose too much bleach. This dispenser was used only in 1961-1962 on the TOL LAB 30. For 1963,(the final year of slant-fronts) it was replaced by a combination bleach/fabric softener dispenser where you manually added the amount of product in the dispenser for each load. I believe this type of dispenser was used till the very end of the 3-belt Laundromat.

Thanks for the info, Jerry. My 1987 Frigidaire-branded had the combination timed bleach/fabric softener dispenser you referenced.

The stackable models didn't have dispensers. They came with a large plastic pitcher. You'd measure the bleach into it, add nearly 2 qts. of water, then pour it into the machine. For fabric softener: The machine would buzz and pause for a couple of minutes after the machine filled for the final rinse to allow you time to dash to the washer, open the door and pour a capful of softener into the tub.

Any idea why they decided to abandon the slant front in favor of the 3-belt design?

Were there advantages of the 3-belt design that washed better?

The new faucets are installed and time for a group pic!..I put the back on since everything is fixed and did a small load of whites (and forgot to take pics)..the bleach dispenser works (it works on a quiet solenoid..unlike the pump and spin..now to fix the dryer blower wheel bearing
