Thanks for the photos and explanation of the Tappan water-cooled microwave! That's a seriously cool piece of equipment, I didn't realize anyone made one that elaborate so early on. It's worth remembering that in '61 $1500 would have bought quite a few compact cars, so that was a chunk of change for a special use oven. Was it still working when you pulled it? If not I wonder how long it kept going after it was installed in '61?
