That’s a ge badged washing machine and it’s date code 20 dates the machine to august 1995
Hotpoint / GE
The brand name Hotpoint is used in Australia by a company that sells electric heaters, so Hotpoint UK appliances sold here have been given another name. In the early days (purple door front load washers) they were badged as GEC. They disappeared for a couple of decades, then the range shown here appeared, badged as GE. They sold well for a brief period, then disappeared again. I have repaired a couple. They made lots of owners unhappy with ridiculous levels of noise and vibration, and extortionate spare parts prices. When I enquired, a set of genuine motor brushes cost $120. The equivalent for a Hoover cost $7. No wonder these machines have been scrapped in droves.
