I had some request for some more pictures and info on the 1956 RCA Color TV that I'm offering to Applianceville. The set is in fair condition, there is some peeled veneer wood on top and the trap door seems to be stuck, it will need to be pryed open and fixed. The set of course will have to be recapped and tested and restored.

I have never plugged this set in, I have as I have other sets I wanted to restore first. If you are interested send me an email at [email protected]. I would like this shipped or picked up within the next few weeks.

It just kills me

It's too far away to consider. I say it kills me because I used to have a great working round tube color tv. I traded in a Black and White newish tv at a dealer for an Admiral Color round tube. This was in 1968, the tv was probably a 1964 model. The color was just super. I read somewhere that the phosphors in these tubes were selected to reproduce the NTSC standards exactly. Today's phosphors are not as accurate. In particular, I loved Hawaii 50, the reds and blues were so intense.

After having the set for a while, I decided I needed a car, so I bought the 1969 GTO convertible, which was about a year old. I sold the set for $175.00 to a guy at work, to help pay for the car.

I also had a portable dishwasher at the time, similar to Uni's Frigidaire, I used it for about 10 years, and it always worked great.

(I really hate to admit this) I had a Maytag AMP, left it at the apartment when I moved, because the new apartment did not have a hook-up. This was around 1968.

Well at least I had these machines, and they were my "daily drivers"

WOW-Super cool-but too far for me too.I used to have a set simialr to the one shown-A CTC-5.Mine was in a blonde cabinet-and it did work. The pix tube in it looked like it was rebuilt twice.I had it stored at a transmitter site along with a freinds collection-someone broke into the site and took all of the TV's and whatever wasn't bolted down. The only things that didn't get taken were the AM transmitter and its phasor.everything elese was gone. The station was on the air. Both Roger and I were disapponted-we got our Tv's from repair shops or other freind-that would ask-I have this old TV in the garage or basement--Could you use it-its yours if you take it away."We ran into several that way.Even found an old DuMont by the side of the road while doing "points"for another station. Was a good way to find them and other things-esp on trash days.
