Re: drmitch:
"Happy Birthday" drmitch, sorry your not feeling well for the special occasion, but as you mentioned we always have this wonderful Club Site to check things out on.
I've got a Mid-1960's Magnavox 4-Speed Stereo that has the extra Speaker in the Lid, but unfortunately the Lid Speaker got damaged. I made my own Cabinet Speaker some time ago, that is like a piece of Furniture and even though kind of {amaturish} {sp} looking, I did "fancy" it up with some Wall Trim pieces and it was Stained Mahogany and has a Crushed Velvet Cloth Cover on the Front where the 3-Speaker's are. I've got a Woofer, Mid-Range and Tweeter Speaker and I also insulated the Cabinet as well. It actually works pretty good for a first and only experience of doing something like that. I also bought some short Screw-On Legs and the Bracket's to raise the Speaker Cabinet up off the floor too. When the Lid Speaker got damaged, I bought some See-Thru-Smoked-Color Plexiglas and made a new Lid for the Cabinet of the Stereo. Later on I had to get the Turntable Repaired and the Friend of the Family who did that Repair, put some Hinges on the back of my Plexiglas Cover, because I just had it sitting on the Cabinet, with a small Knob on the front to lift it off to access to play Records. It is still my most Favorite Stereo-Style Model, because of the Tone-Arm touching the edge of the Record's to detect which size Record is being played, between 78's and 331/3rd's. The 45's had their own Spindle Attachment, but I also used to buy the Plastic Insert's and I could stack them on the Turntable Stem and the Tone-Arm would also touch the edge of the 45's to determine their size as well.
