Are the 30" Hi-Low Range/Stove's with a Lower Self-Clean Oven and Upper Regular Oven, not a Microwave Upper Oven still available? If not, does anyone know when the last year of Manufacturing was? I've got a Woman Friend who is going to be Re-Modeling her Kitchen sometime next year and she was menitoning to me recently about wanting to get another one of those Range/Stoves, so she would have 2-Oven's again. She is limited to space, so she can't look into one of the
40" Model's, that I know at least Frigidaire still has available, that is last time I checked.

My Brother and Sister-In-Law bought a new 40" Frigidaire a few years ago, in Portland, Oregon. They got the lower Model, with the Standard Clean Oven's, because they aren't "new-fangle" people and really don't mind Manually Cleaning the Oven's. Unfortunately, they replaced an Mid-1940's GE 40" Electric Stove, that still worked, except for I think the Main-Oven went out and it wasn't going to be just an easy replacement of the Element, it needed a new Oven Control and the places we attempted to locate the Part's for me to do the Repair's, told us they didn't have those Part's available any more. I didn't have enough time to check further, due to timing, or else they might still have the GE Stove now. They traded it in for the new Frigidaire Range/Stove. They paid around $750.00 and where they live, they don't have to pay Sales-Taxes on purchases.

I would gratefully appreciate any and all info, even if there are some maybe still available new, but just haven't been sold as of yet and have the New Appliance Warrantee available. Maybe someone might know of a place to locate this idea way of getting one of these Range/Stove's, being new but never sold yet?

Peace and best always, Steve

Frigidaire now makes a 30" double oven range similar to the Maytag Gemini, except the ovens are reversed. The large oven is under the cooktop and the small oven is where the storage drawer is. I think the top oven is also convection. I've seen them in the Lowe's circular for about $1000.00

And I think the closest

will be that Frigidaire or the Maytag Gemini's.

A friend of mine in Boston has had an electric Gemini for two years now, and has had very good luck with it. There is also now a gas Gemini.

True "eyelevel" stoves haven't been made for years.

When I cook, I made a lot of stocks and soups, and my tallest stockpot would not fit on a eyelevel stove cooktop.

When I was catering, the nicest one I used was a gas Tappan eyelevel. It was from the late 60s, and the thermostats were perfect.

We had a 1980's GE "Eyelevel" double-oven range (unlike others, it had a conventional oven on top; no microwave) until I was 4, when we replaced it with a GE gas range. I remember it was beige and unreliable. The self-cleaning feature stopped working, and about a week before we replaced it, the bottom oven quit altogether, and we were stuck with the top oven. My mom always complained how it was way too hot and had many "accidents"! ;-)

One of my mom's friends in our subdivision had the microwave-equipped version (supplied when it was built) and was always having trouble with the microwave. She ended up using it as a breadbox!

And yet another friend had trouble with the cooktop part! The two large coils stopped working, forcing her to cook on the small side. Talk about frustrating!

Re: 30

Hi! Club Member's and Friend's, thank you for the great info help of my inquiry about the 30" Hi-Low Range/Stoves. I've actually seen the Maytag Gemini Range/Stoves and hadn't even thought about them. My concern with them is I prefer to have the extra space with a Storage Drawer, instead of the sacrifice of not having it, in order to have 2-Oven's, but without 1-Oven being above and 1-Oven being below the Burner Surface area.

I will mention to my Friend, maybe she will be interested and able to accept less Storage Drawer space and make-up in Kitchen Storage Cabinet Space areas.

Peace and best to everyone, Steve

McMillan and wife, Sally's stove

Has anyone ever watched old episodes of McMillan and wife. Sally had a beautiful coppertone stove with an eye level oven.I think it was probably based on the 36" wide model. It was the only one of that width i have ever seen. My heart goes out to Ms. St. James this week after the tragic loss of her young son. I always enjoyed her work as an actress. Sorry to drift off topic. alr2903

Arthur, your thoughtful ness and sensitivity about Susan St. James is well worth mentioning.

Steve, the Frigidaire range, I've also seen at Lowes, has me drooling. All 4 elements are dual sized. The bottom "oven" can be used for just that, a warming drawer, and a storage drawer. And yes, the oven is convection--true Euro convection. Frigidaire seems to begin to be getting its act together. Also, that bottom drawer has a bit of a window on the front of it so you can "see'.
