My Neighbor down the Street from me has an early 1980's Dishwasher that the covering of the Tines are deteriorating and I remembered some of you Guys talking about either a Silicone or something like that or possibly some Covers that could be put on over the existing Tines.

This Dishwasher has the lower Access Panel, as well as the Main Door Panel, instead of the newer Full Panel Door {Taller-Tub} Dishwashers have.

I would gratefully appreciate any and all help with this. He is an elderly Man, who's Wife Passed-Away a couple of years and he doesn't like very much to replace Appliances, if there is hope in keeping them and Repairing them. He also grew up during the Depression, so he is fairly conservative as well.

Thank you, for any help and advise of which is best to look into as a Repair.

The caps really work best if you mix up some two part epoxy and dab it on the tip of each tine before pushing the cap on. Do not use silicone sealer because it needs to be exposed to the air to cure. My KA 18s have more caps than all of MGM's stars in the 1940s.

For the help, I knew that some of you Guys had talked about these items before. I've written the info to my Neighbor, to see what he thinks about these.

What do you think and how do you feel about Amazon, as far as giving a Credit Card Number for a purchase like this?

Might it be possible that Parts Dept's locally might have these Tip Covers available, to save time and Shipping Expense?

Most parts places have these dishwasher rack repair kits, and you'll be supporting a local business, too.

That having been said, I do trust Amazon with credit card numbers, so long as your PC is free of spyware that might report such info to a third party.

I found a local Sales/Repair/Parts Store here that carry the Repair Kit of Tine Covers and they have the Adhesive included in the Kit as well. The place that I contacted by Phone, said that they were however out of the Kit and that they would have to order one for my Neighbor. The Woman said that depending on whether it came from within Calif or from Oregon, would depend on how soon it would arrive. She said that we didn't need to pay for the Kit in advance. She thought that there was 25 Tine Covers in the Kit, besides the Adhesive and they are charging $25.00 for the Kit, which a lot less than new Racks.

Thank you again for everyone's help and advise on where and how to locate the Kit's.
