This was an E-Mail to me and I thought that it would be a good idea to not only forward it in E-Mails, but to everyone on the Club Site, to also forward in E-Mails to other Family members and Friends.

Peace and GOD Bless America, Steve
SactoTeddyBear...

GREAT IDEA !!!

Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this email immediately to everyone in your address book asking them to also forward it.
We have a little less than one week and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America. If you forward this email to least 11 people and each of those people do the same...you get the idea.

THE PROGRAM IS THIS:
On Monday, September 11th, 2006, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States.

Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this fifth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do...

(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

Thank you for your participation.

God Bless You and God Bless America!

Mine is going up

this weekend STB, and down when it's evening (don't know if that is required protocol, better safe than sorry) and will be flying the whole week.

Offensive

I am curious to know whether, in the USA, you suffer from the same ludicrous claque of politically correct morons who say that one shouldn't fly the national flag in case it causes offence to minority groups, in the cases I am referring to, any person or group of persons living in the UK, that were not born here. I know this may sounds mad but it happens in the UK all of the time. I envy the USA's flag flying but employees and private individuals have faced proscecution for flying the Union Flag.

Yes,I remember 9-11.Went to the gunshop to buy my AR-15-and found out the biggest sellers at those times-were guns and --US flags.Tried to buy some extra flags--but NONE of the stores in my area had any-they were sold out.At one time when I was coming home from work in downtown DC-found a large flag wrapped around the base of a lamppost.Everyone was walking by it like as though it wasn't there-I picked it up and took it home.I still have that flag.It is too large to hang on a household flagpole. And all of the buildings in the area had their flags--go figure.I have the flag hanging in my hallway.

"....ludicrous claque of politically correct morons who say that one shouldn't fly the national flag in case it causes offence to minority groups....."

Perhaps the minorities/foreigners should realize that perhaps THEIR flag in OUR country could perhaps be offensive.I believe the law here states that a US flag MUST be flown next to a foreign flag under many circumstances.

PC crap

Political correctness is enough to make me blow my overpressure valve. Right on, Toggle, don't you think the foreigner flying his (whatever) flag might be offensive to us? Why don't we go to some foreign country and fly our flag? Let's see how far that get. Ye yaille! (cajun for Oy vey)

If you can't be patriotic about your OWN country without getting sued, than what the hell can you do?

I'm not a huge show-your-patriotism type, but I am glad I was born in the US and have no problems flying a flag. I don't understand being ashamed to do that.

When my stepfather came into the family in 1974, he put a flagpole up in our front yard near the street. There was a cute little rock and flower garden around it. We flew the flag every day and it was my job to raise and lower it. At first I resented it, but after awhile, if it would start raining when I was away from the house, I'd call and remind one of them to run out and take it down; I guess I started feeling some ownership of the whole process.

I get frustrated with people who are mindless rah-rah patriots who refuse to admit the US can and does sometimes make mistakes, both at home and abroad. That isn't patriotism, it's naivete. Nor do I agree with the people who want to move this country toward theocracy. But I think we have a great country overall. I've never wanted to live anyplace else. And like everything in life, the US is a continual work-in-progress.

I fear that in the UK, political correctness has gone so far down the wrong road as to be irredeemable. For example, during the world cup, certain local councils banned the flying of the English flag by cab drivers in case it caused offense to people who weren't from England and Royal Portbury Dock banned the same. These are two of a hundred such instances. I watched a TV programme last night about 9/11 and there were flags flying everywhere, and quite rightly. Local councils would take a very dim view of that in the UK for fear of upsetting a minority group.

Americans

It bothers me greatly that most people today have no sense of proper etiquette for most anything. If you read the flag etiquette it is quite clear on what is truly proper. We wear clothing, bumber stickers ect. that are totally out of line. The thing that bothers me most is when the Star Spangled Bannor is sung at ball games, people applauding, yelling play ball, ect. There should always be a time of silence right after the song has been sung as a sign of respect, applause does not fit the code of ethics for that either..where have we gone wrong...

While I totally agree with you about innappropriate use of the flag (It especially irritates me when they use it to push products) I have to disagree with you about the Star Spangled Banner.

A game is a celebration for the attendees. A big pageant, and a big party. I think it's appropriate that the national anthem be part of the festivities because, after all, part of what we are celebrating is being in a country where we afford the luxury of attending sporting events. In that instance, I think it should be part of the fun, not a solem hymn of allegiance.

Besides, on a more practical note, It is almost unsingable to anyone without a wide vocal range, so anytime an unorganized group of people try to sing it, it always ends up with everyone laughing when they can't hit that high note. IMO, "America The Beautiful" would be a much better song.
