Hi again... I'm the person who posted the ad yesterday for the Frigidaire. We also found these items in my Mom's house... One looks like a dryer insides (see pic) and the other is a "packard" motor (that is up on craigslist in an attempt to discover details). I was wondering if anyone could help with the specifics of what these are for (that is if, they are in fact washer/dryer related). There is also a large rubber O ring type thing (I'll photograph this later). I just want to be sure that I don't throw away anything that might be of interest to someone or that should be included with the Frigidaire.

Very interesting find!

That appears to be a tub & rear bulkhead assembly from a Bendix front loading washer (the Bendix experts will probably be able to confirm this). Not sure what the motor is from, but based on the mounting bracket it was probably from a dryer (the Bendix washer did not use this type of motor configuration).

Hello Piphy,

First, I'm sorry about your loss. I hope you be able to easily move through this difficult time and find comfort and peace.

Next the photos. I suspect the first photo of the drum/pulley and the last photo of the rubber ring thing are part of the same machine. I'm guessing the drum is the inner wash basket from an older (60's - 70's?) front load washer (Westinghouse?) and the rubber thing is probably the main boot/seal for the door opening.

This is just my guess. Perhaps others can "fill in the blanks" better then I can.

That brown rubber ring is definitely the boot from a front load washer. Which brand, I'm not sure but I'm betting on a Westinghouse.

That drum part is outside now and getting rained on... is this something I should be trying to protect? Do you think this would be of use to anyone? I can't physically move it myself (some friends took it down from Mom's attic for me), but if it's important I could try to find something to cover it with.

Yes, you should cover the drum.

I am no expert, but I would imagine both the drum and the boot go with either a Westinghouse or a Bendix machine.

For everyone else: is there an off chance the drum can go to an early dryer with a perforated drum?

I just ran outside and put a vintage plastic tablecloth over it (held on with a brick). Though I don't know if that will truly protect it with the storm we are supposed to be getting. This drum is very dirty/dusty/etc. to begin with... but hopefully the tablecloth will protect it just enough from any further damage.

Please do let me know if anyone thinks they can use this.

Knowing what it is now... I am wondering if I am going to end up finding a vintage dryer in here somewhere. There still are a couple of covered up 'hiding' places in the garage yet.
