I'm helping my Neighbor that I got the Toaster from, with his Black & Decker Toaster-Oven-Broiler now. I tried to go onto the B&D Site, to see if they still had the part available, but I couldn't get into an actual Item and/or Parts area. The Model Number is: SO2500 {S-like Sam, O-Like Oliver, the Number 5 and Zero's on the end}.

What it needs is the Plastic Cover for the Start Lever, that must have gotten brittle some time ago and broke off. The Part looks kind of like the top of a "T" Square, but it sits sideways, so the side of the "T" is like an endented area where you can put your Finger, to push it Down for Cooking or pull up for stopping the Cooking.

I told my Neighbor that I would try to see if I could locate a replacement. We don't have any Small Appliance Service Centers here any more, since everything seems like it is more Disposable now, so items like these that we as being somewhat older and caring about our older Appliances, wanting to keep them and keep them operating.

I would gratefully appreciate any and all help that one of you great Guys -or- Gals might be able to help me with.

I would have sure thought that someone would have attempted to try and help me with my Inquiry by now. It seems like a lot of the times when I either originally Post something or add to a Post Thread, that I give the Post what I call a "Kiss of Death" because a lot of times, after I've Posted, it just stays there, without anyone else Posting after me.

It is sure too bad to feel this way, especially when so many other Guys can Post or add to a Thread all too often and get Multiple results.

Steve, please don't feel bad! You have no idea how many times I've been the 'kiss of death' at various threads. Remember that you're looking for a relatively obscure piece for a vintage toaster, which isn't the sort of small appliance most people here have experience with. Cheers, man!

Steve, how old is the toaster oven? I see newer (less than 10 years old) ones in thrift stores a lot, and you could probably get the whole unit for the cost of a brand new knob. Just a suggestion, and I have no idea whether this is an obscure old thing or what, but that's my $.02 Have you tried Deseret over by Business 80 & Watt? That place is huge and pretty cheap too!

I appreciate having some of you helping me with some ideas for my search. I'm actually trying to locate just the Handle Cover for the Start Cook Lever. This is for a Neighbor's Toaster-Over-Broiler, although with some of your suggestions, I'm going to be on the Look-Out now for something for myself to use in a great Vintage era and design.

Sorry Steve...I usually skip this type of thread if I don't have a definite answer, rather than posting a vague I don't know or something like that, and getting the poster excited to find an answer I don't have.

Best of luck in your part search. Is the B&D made somewhat like the GE they made for years with the controls in front and the door that popped open when your toast was finished? I do know that one and they are awesome.

I actually just bought a brand new toaster oven that I just love. It's called a Cuisinart retro oven, and it actually is a pretty faithful reproduction of the GE. It's great for me to bake a piece of chicken or fish, simple things like that for dinner for myself. Not all toaster ovens do toast all that well oddly enough, but this one does and I remember those GEs having done so as well.

Hi! Scott, I've got the same GE Model that your talking about. It was a gift in 1971 and is still going strong, with only 1-Repair, of the Door Latch Mechanism.

The one that I'm looking for the Start Lever Handle Cover is approx 12-inches high by approx 15-inches wide and approx 15-inches deep. It has a pull-down Glass Framed Door and a couple of levels for the Rack. It also has a Bake/Broil Pan and Grate. The Unit is a 2-Tone Brown Color and has a Piolt Light, Darkness Control and Bake/Broil Settings on the Dial.

It is a late 1960's to early 1970's Model.
