I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1990 Kenmore DD unit with some parts from a 2005 Kenmore DD unit. One difference I see between the two models is that the the newer machine uses these flexible accordian type hoses that connect to the pump. The newer machine also uses this same type of hose for the water inlet. In contrast, the older machine has smooth, molded automotive coolant type hoses. They are much thicker and certainly appear more durable than the newer accordion type hoses, which are made of much thinner material.
I can get some of the old NOS molded hoses for the 1990 unit, but not all of them. There is a small molded hose that is between the temp sensor and the water inlet valve that apparently is no longer available (P/N 3349366). The other one is the washer tub drain hose P/N 62731. They do sell another hose that is a replacement for this one, but it is the cheap accordian type.
The water inlet molded hose is pretty obviously hard and I should replace it. Not sure where to find one though? And the large washer tub hose (P/N 62731) I have, although it is nearly 30 years old, it still seems pliable, has no cracks and essentially seems ok. But I want this washer to last a long time (decades) without blowing a hose. So not sure if I should re-use the one I have or to replace it with a new (but cheaper) universal accordian type hose.
What do you experts think?
