Re: Whirlpool Compact Stackable Washer/Dryer at Lowe's:

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hey! Club Friend's, I wanted to share with you, in case any haven't noticed yet, that I was on the Whirlpool Web-Site last night {Monday, Dec 27th} and they've got their new Compact Front-Load Washer/Dryer Stackable's on the Site now. I wrote Whirlpool when they first were listed on the Lowe's Site, requesting some Literature of them and Whirlpool told me at that time that the Matched Compact Set were a special order Model made just for Lowe's. I'm thinking that maybe enough people inquired about seeing them on the Whirlpool Site and wanting Literature telling about them. I'm going to try to write to them again, to see if they will now send me some Literature of the new Compact Stackable Set.

Peace and Happiness, Steve

I downloaded the manual (for the washer, the one for the dryer is not yet available). I noticed some things.

On the website Whirlpool says it has 5 temperature settings, but the temperature settings are integrated in the cycles. I can only see three temperatures in the manual, hot, warm and cold. There are no delicate cycles. There is however a Handwash cycle, but that only has a warm temperature setting, like the Quickwash cycle. No cold for woolens and other delicate stuff. The website tells us that it has an internal water heater, no mention of that in the manual and IIRC discussions about this machine it doesn't have one.

This washer has no heating element, but it also doesn't have a bleach dispenser. You are supposed to clean this washer out with chlorine bleach, yet you can't use it on your whites.

It has a lint filter, not a button trap. Most modern European washers have a self cleaning lint filter that doesn't need cleaning. This washer has a filter that apparently needs to be cleaned every month.

The capacity is rather big, it's rated 2.9 cu ft. which is the same as the Maytag Neptune frontloader.

There is a pedestal available.

Capacity

These are not 2.9 cu. ft. DOE capacity but 2.9 IEC rating. These are smaller than both the neptune and the FriGEmores.
