Greetings fellow enthusiasts,

I have been using and working on my Kitchen Aid KDS-18 Superba and I've run into a timer control issue. It either needs to be replaced or if by some miracle am open to buying a used one in good working order. I was wondering if there is a go to place that would lovingly restore my timer (model#115988)I took it apart once to see if there was anything obviously wrong, cleaned the contacts with a very mild sand paper and subsequently cleaned away the residue and very sparingly lubed the moving parts with silicone based lube. It works much better but has not fixed the original issue which is beyond my expertise to diagnose. Dead spots, timer advance motor doesn't turn off at the end of the cycle unless I open the door. It's possible that I missed something when reassembling the unit. These hands are getting too shakey to try a second time and so it's time for the experts.

The overwhelming advice I've seen here is to replace the timer.  Apparently once a component fails that isn't easily or feasibly accessible, a new (or known good used) timer is the only option.

You may get lucky and find a decent donor machine on Kijiji.  I don't remember if there were any big Salvation Army stores in Ottawa proper, but check out the suburbs.  I found some pretty amazing stuff at the Village des Voleurs in Orleans (it has been a few years, though...)
