The 63 Frigidaire has a letter starting with the salutation:"Dear Frigidairians." Brought a smile. The TOL looks like Ben's with the 6 pushbuttons for Fabrics, and 4 more for options. But what I hope to get an answer from Robert or Ben about is this: some of the machines slow spin at 465 and others at 220. Like to know the why's and wherefore's about this. None of these are 3 speed machines and they all fast spin at 710. This was a long, satisfying read, full of surprises.
KILLER: Someone asked about wringer pressure on a Visimatic. It's automatic, as it is on Norges, and Speed Queens, all of those in the later years of production. But the Maytag had it from the get-go. Yeah, that primitive wringer had self-adjusting pressure from Day One. Ben and Dan, take a bow. Another Maytag Miracle. In the brochure, the female operators and attendants are dressed in turn of the century full skirts in drawings that look like art gallery murals. This DDD really looks like a sacred document.
Australia Alert: the 57 Norge DDD features a semi-automatic right here in the states. Wonder if one will ever turn up? I could not believe this. Also noteworthy is the discussion on the need for thorough rinsing and how the Norge is unbeatable in this regard. Listen to this:
"Mist Spin spray Rinse 1/2 min. 1&1/2 gallons
Tidal Surface Overflow
Wave { Agitated Overflow Rinse } 5 min. 11 gallons
Rinse Agitated Deep Wave Rinse
Mist Spin Spray Rinse 1/2 min. 1&1/2 gallons "
Now that, excuse my French, is frigging rinsing. Seems that the Norge can out-rinse anybody.
The semi-automatic has 3 buttons OFF WASH SPIN. You can't go from wash to spin without pressing off first. No fireworks. They don't tell you to spin before rinsing. Simply to start the overflow and rinse till the water is clear, approx. 6 minutes. Interesting. Compare the math between auto & semi.
MORE TO COME
EDIT: The system won't let the tab stay. It's like this in the document:
Tidal
Wave
Rinse
