Found some interesting items out today hunting around.

First off this "Just Rite" electric hand mixer I'm guessing from the 30's or 40's maybe earlier. The original box is in bad shape and there's nothing denoting a manufactuer on the machine,, just 60 cycles 120 v. or something. Came with a beater, a drink mixer and a bottle cleaner attachment.

And this GE bonnet style hair dryer.. When I saw the box I expected to open it up and find a grotty used hair dryer but was astounded to find out it looks like it's never been used or removed from it's plastic bag inside. As close to NIB as you're ever gonna find without the box having been factory sealed.

I had that same Telechron clock for years. I don't know what happened to it, but it for sure never stopped keeping perfect time. I must have passed it on to someone a looooong time ago.

If the rotor is too loud and raspy, remove it and set it (balance it as level as possible) on top of a 60 watt bulb gear side up, for a few hours and let it cook. Shut off the bulb and place a drop or two of 3-in-1 type oil in the small housing well around the gear. Just enough to have it pool in there without overflowing. Leave everything in place for maybe 18 hours or so and the oil will get sucked in as things cool. Repeat the whole process the next day and after letting it set again overnight you should have a silent rotor.

I tried this on a nearly frozen and super raspy rotor that I thought was a lost cause and after this two-stage treatment it became fully operational and nearly inaudible. Like new.

My mom has that hair dryer. She used it a lot when I was little, but it's slow and weak by today's standards. It's also very quiet.

Well you know me Louis,, can't leave a bargain behind especially when it's minty vintage or some other nice quality about it. I have that Braun float on your head bonnet and another GE I think in 60's flowery case. I think that's it for hair dryers

Had this for a few weeks as well, a neat Rival Ice-O-Mat crusher and display, not sure if all the boxes had the display insert or not?

Just Right

The whole look of the Just Right mixer and especially the leather whip attachment look very S&M, just saying.

Brian, I like the way you think!

I know there's a picture somewhere of my sister using a similar hair dryer. She was not amused about having the pic snapped, as I recall. I think that one was a "Presto" and it had a little sliding cover on the console that allowed one to access a small amount of the forced air to dry their nails.

Real Estate

Pete, I can't believe how many unique and pristine gadgets and appliances you find. Perhaps its your "magnetic" attraction. Have you calculated the size of the basement and the rate of new inventory sourced, to know how much longer you can stay in the house before you need more storage?

Pete,

If you added a few salon chairs, and hairdryers to your collection, you could have the "girls" over and do their 'do's. And with the ice crusher, one could serve up some daquiri's or margaritas, and have a "gay" old time.
