Recent sweet finds.

Last week I found a craigslist ad for someone tearing down a 1958 house. The inside was pretty much original. The owner was wanting to see if anyone was intrested in saving any of the stuff prior to tearing down the house. I ended up leaving with two truck loads of stuff.

 

 The first pictures are of the Revco built in Refrigerator and Freezer as well as the Tappan range. The pictures were taken with them still installed in the house. The next pictures are of them at my house.

I also got these American Standard toilets and this princess tub. I did not get the bidet. I have no room in my bathroom and don't want to deal with cutting concrete to deal with running plumbing for it either.

I did also get the matching sinks for the toilets. I got some other small odds and ends as well. It is sad to see this beautiful house being torn down. Unfortuneatly I don't have any pictures of the house.

You could have used the bidet as a bird bath without plumbing it in. It would be so easy to clean with the pop-up drain. Or you could have put it on the patio with a pump installed for a fountain. Did the controls on the wall behind it have anything to do with it?

I'm not sure. The utilities were shut off at that point. The house had sat for 5 years prior.

That Tappan is really nice. Your garage looks like a treasure trove. Get that AMI jukebox unpacked and start doing the Watusi.

Love the fixtures! American Standard is my favorite vintage plumbing brand. The toilets you have there are the Carlyle. I'm actually getting ready to put in a Regency Blue 1967 Cadet. Nothing beats the cleanliness of those with their high waterline and swirling action.

The cabinets were beautiful. Nothing special about the layout though. I didn't get any pictures of the kitchen.

There was a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. I did not get the dishwasher. Someone esle actually did buy it. She is going to have it installed in her kitchen. It came with the original paperwork.

 

Twintub:

The garage is filled with vintage stuff. TVs, Radios, Vacuums, Washers, and dryers. The garage is a 20 foot by 50 foot 2 story RV garage. Needless to say, we aren't parking an RV into it.

We actually have two of those 1956 AMi. The green one is the one that is in the garage. The black one is in the living room. We've been spending all our time and effort on getting the house to where we want it, that the collections have taken a back seat. We are at a point that we can start working on them again . The black jukebox is the next on the list to get up and going. It really doesn't need much, just put back together. The green one does need more work. These two pictures were taken at our old house.

I'm not familiar with the years of Kitchen Aid dishwahsers. I know its an older one, but not sure from when.

Is a KDS-17 these were built from about 70 through 76, it is certainly not surprising that the orignal DW from 58 is long gone if they used it at all.

I am incredibly envious of those Revcos.

 

And never underestimate the bidet.  It is the pinnacle of civilized hygiene.

I like your new plumbing fixtures - especially the tub. I put in the Kohler Mayflower tub (similar in shape to yours) in my house.

I hope you won't have to replace the seats on your toilets; they were very expensive 25 years ago when I worked at a plumbing supply co., and even more so now.
