Well, this is probably highly silly, but I had to post this. On Friday, I had a very active day as my father recently had some surgery which has taken him temporarily out of action so I volunteered to mow their lawn. I don't like using other people's stuff, so I took my own mower over there - a walk-behind mower, to mow a lot that is over 1.75 acres in size!!! Fortunately it's not all grass.

It took me 2.5 hours to do, then I went home and did my own for another hour and quarter. I was left with this nasty dirty sock (one of a pair of course). I thought that this would be a cool test of a washer and detergent, so I gathered up a load of whites and a regular scoop full of Tide with bleach and called upon my 1977 Kenmore 70.

The results surprised me and reminded me of phrase 'Now your clothes can be Kenmore clean too!"

Here's the after shot

Not quite perfect, even a remnant of grass is still there, lol, but dang, it looks a whole lot better!

And I distinctly remember someone on here saying that WP belt-drives really didn't clean clothes.................

"Well, this is probably highly silly..."

Not for someone who loves socks as much as I do. LOL. AWESOME. Beautiful!

I swear by Tide with Bleach Powder.

Was it the Roto or our beloved 3-vane which did the dirty deed so marvelously?

Here's the machine I used....

My 1977 Kenmore 70

Oh, btw, Stainfighter - I am not that stupid as to overload a machine to the point of no rollover...especially not in a Penta-Swirl powered one that can clog-up rollover with an extra washcloth.

Is Tide w/ bleach a color safe bleach? I only use Tide on my oily/greasy clothes along with good dose of STTP. Everything else is washed in Costco's environmentally friendly detergent. To be honest, I can't tell a difference between the 2 detergents as far as performance.

Dan -

Yes, Tide w/Bleach uses a color-safe bleach. I still don't use it on colors (I am using Cheer right now for darks) but I have used it as my only detergent before and had no issues. I LOVE the scent....this was the powder version.

Tide w/bleach powder

Where are you guys finding Tide w/bleach POWDER???

I've been numerous stores looking for the powder formula, even Costco; only to find the liquid formula only.Used to buy the Tide w/bleach powder all the time but seems it's been discontinued in So. Calif. stores.??!

Really comes in handy if you are doing a pre-wash in a machine with dispensers that doesn't suspend the main-wash soap from going in during the pre-wash. ...LoL

Most of the grocery stores here have it, so does Target. Some have it in several sizes and in original or Clean Breeze scents. I like the original best. I am working on a 63-load box, which is about double the usual size I'd get. GOOD STUFF!

Kenmoreguy64, those old Kenmores with pentaswirl or str. pentavane absolutely washed with a powerful action, and they could stand up year after year to heavy grease and grime. Did wash in warm or hot? Great results. alr2903

I just started on a box of tide w/bleach 118 loads. I get this regularly at BJ's. They are carry the original, w/bleach and a spring or fresh scent i think. The last box I used was the original 140 loads. I do like its smell and cleaning ability especially on the towels for the dogs.
