I'm rebuilding a gearcase on a 1971 Kenmore washer and wasn't sure if the main drive pulley needs to be removed in order to get the gearcase cover off. I've already removed the set screw, but was wondering if the pulley needs to come off. If it does, what's the best way to remove it? I really don't want to bang on it from the bottom because I could damage or bend it. Any advice for removing the pulley?

Thanks
Tom

Tom make sure there isn't two set screws in that pulley, one right behind the other. I don't think there are but with some brands I've seen that.

If it is stuck you can heat the shaft gently with a torch and it should pop off.
