Thinking about replacing my kitchen appliances with something
more modern (to eventually sell the house in a year or two.)
But since I will be using them (or may stay in house longer),
don't want to make a "mistake".

Anything to avoid? Anything to strive for? Been looking on
craigslist for stainless. (Rather annoying when they don't
respond and/or leave the ads up when the items are gone.)

I did receive a comment from someone about their new Frigidaire
dishwasher. Comment was to avoid the "new" dishwashers that
use 1/2 the water. They now have to run their new dishwasher
twice to get the dishes clean...

I have two Frigidaire stainless steel convection ranges (one gas, one electric) and two Frigidaire refrigerators (one stainless, one not). I had a top-of-the-line Frigidaire dishwasher, but experienced repeated problems with a bad circuit board, so I got rid of it and replaced it with a Maytag last year. It cleans pots/pans much better than the Frigidaire did. I would stay away from Frigidaire dishwashers. The Maytag's capacity is amazing and it holds very large and oddly-shaped pots, etc. I highly recommend one. I have the top-of-the-line 2-rack model in stainless steel. It's also a snap to completely remove the upper rack if you have something huge to wash. For me, it's those big brown 5-gallon insulated drink dispensers you see on buffet lines.

Consumer Reports generally likes Whirlpool appliances, although some people at this site have not had good luck with their tall-tub dishwashers (poor cleaning in upper rack).

G.E. is also a pretty good in all their kitchen appliances.

We're a curious lot, so let us know what you decide on!

I know I asked about kitchen appliances, just wanting to verify
the "shredmore" reputation of the Kenmore/Whirlpool washers.
(Some of the ads I've looked at have a complete "set", kitchen
and washer/dryer - still recommended I should avoid the laundry
products?)

Millions of people own the so-called Shredmore machines. They're reliable and clean well. I think if you're careful not to overload them, you'd be fine.

Having said that, why get new appliances and opt for a toploading washer? Go for a frontloader! They're fantastic. Frigidaire's line of frontloaders are reliable and competitively priced. Otherwise the Kenmore Sport or Ht (the Hetties, as they're popularly known) are great machines.

I guess I didn't say - not looking for NEW appliances.
Looking for used (recently new) appliances primarily
to interest prospective buyers. Idea is to give them
at least a few things to think positively about. (How
many of the "masses" do you know that would appreciate
the qualities of older appliances?)

And I have just been too worried about newer frontloaders
after reading various things here. Perhaps I just haven't
logically sorted the comments out to pertain to particular
models/brands/years.

Curious, I have relatives in various parts of SW MN ???
