I need to replace the thermostat on my GE J-408. It is the thermostat for the large oven (which is different looking than the small oven thermostat - perhaps it was a replacement of the original?). I have the service manual but I don't see the part number listed (nor could I see anything on the thermostat itself). Is there likely to be a more recent compatible version? What is the best way to go about finding a thermostat?

Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

I just had the same issue with my 1959 J-408
The original part number has long been NLA, and part that replaced that is also NLA
Mine now has a generic replacement thermostat in it, however I don't recall the brand

Generic replacement thermostat

Thanks for the reply. How did you know what generic replacement part would work? Did you have to do anything special to install it?

My oven works well and the thermostat seems to accurately read temp, but it's not completely switching off the oven (no click) so the two lights are always on.
