I know this is the wrong place to ask this, however you fellas always seem to have the answers.

I went to a garage sale and found a 1949 Stromberg Carlson 1400H AM radio begging for restoration. Walked away with it for $5 (a little more than I liked, but I got a great deal on a set of books, so I figured it evened out). I always liked the styling of that particular model and thought it would be good practice before I try and tackle my big beautful 1962 Philco console. I am attempting to get the photofacts online. Anyways, the dial glass is missing. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement? Also, anyone know the cheapest place to get Sam's photofacts? thanks fellas!

That's a really great deal for $5.00, usually they seem to be a lot more! Sometimes you can get photofacts at the library...we have all the photofacts too so if you can't find a copy I'm sure I could look up the info for you.
I'm not sure about dial glass but I know people have had success in reproducing dial glass by computer printing the dial layout onto transparencies which are then applied to plain glass.

Thanks Chad, I may take you up on that (the photofacts). I have a list of them I'm looking for. The local library does cary any photofacts (I haven't tried the surrounding areas).

Good idea on the backglass, however I am open to more answers too.

I found an antique radio parts supplier by looking at eBay auctions - lost the info in a computer crash. Also, do a Yahoo search. There are several companies that specialize in this field.

Is there writing on the glass? The way it is discolored, I think it is acetate or some sort of clear plastic, probably flat stock that bends as it follows the curve of the radio case when mounted.

My 1940 Philco tabletop is clear plastic and, although mine is flat, it seems like it would bend OK.
