Why is it a resource saver?

It used a recirculation spray of water in the rinse instead of a deep water rinse.

Resource Saver DD Whirlpool Washer

These were very effective washers and this washer would make a good washer for an appliance collector who wants an everyday driver that is both more efficient and a great performer [ 90% of the functional parts are the same as regular WP built DD washers ]. In addition to rinsing the the clothing with SIX fresh water recirculated rinses while sinning at full spin speed these machines limited the  [ full fill ] wash water temperature to either 100, 75 or a cold fill to save hot water. The good thing however was they still allowed a full HOT fill for wash if you wanted it by filling it for the wash cycle and then resetting the timer, you could also reset the timer for a full DEEP rinse if desired.

 

We sold around 100 of these washers in the 1999-2003 time period and customers just loved this washer [ never had a single complaint about its performance ]

 

I have saved one of these machines for my personal laundry at home along with a matching WP Easy-Clean 100 Gas dryer which is a perfect match from the same time period.

Your WP easy clean 100. Do you mean that dryer in the early 90's that was said to go 100 uses between screen cleanings? Did the dryer actually work as described?

Whirlpool Easy-Clean 100 Dryers

This dryer was only made in one model and was only around for a few years, that said it worked great. The only real issue with these dryers was they were noisier than the regular machines because they stepped the blower speed up to around 3500 RPMs from the usual 1750 RPM speed. I don't know if you could really dry 100 loads without cleaning the removable filter basket. They made the filter-basket so easy to clean that I know that I had many customers that cleaned it every load as the idea of cleaning a dryers lint filter is so ingrained in most people that they just did it, but I am guessing that you could use it for months without cleaning the basket based on the few I have used and talking with my customers that I sold them to.

 

The great thing about these dryers was they had a very powerful blower so they worked well with long vents and because they did not try to use a screen to filter all the exhaust air leaving the dryer the air-flow would not diminish when drying a really linty load as the cycle progressed. The other really cool thing about these dryers was they did a much better job of removing the larger lint particles from the exhaust air-flow than dryers with course screens so dryer vent cleaning was almost eliminated.

My former boss (now deceased) & wife have an EasyClean 100 dryer (and "matching" washer).  The magnetic latch on the lid is broken and is NLA other than the entire housing when I checked.  He did say they clean it after every load, was surprised when I explained that isn't necessary as per the 100 (loads) part of the marketing label.

Whirlpool Dryer

I have never seen or heard of the Easy-100 dryer. Anyone have any pix to share? Did Sears ever have a similar model under the Kenmore badge?

I remember these machines and think I might have picked up a brochure once on them. I also remember it seeming funny to only clean the lint box every 100 loads
