Yes, it was in the mid-sixties. That's why I said he was in between football and Kathy Lee. He married Kathy in the early eighties long after Westinghouse gave up on appliances.

He did a lot of ads and back then and his name became synonymous with Westinghouse as was Betty Furness's for many years.

That happened to me once!

A woman I once worked with asked me to install a window A/C in her apt, which was a mid rise in Chicago on the near north side. As I had the unit sitting on the window sill while adjusting the side panels I told her to put downward pressure on the top of the A/C by the front panel. All of a sudden without warning she let go. The A/C dropped right out of the window and plummeted 8 stories down into an empty parking space in a parking lot. It seemed to take a long time to hear the crash.
I didn't bother going down to inspect the damage, I knew it was a goner. The girl said she was going back to the store and tell them that it didn't work and see if she could get her money back. It was only a little 6,000 BTU unit. But still.

As much as I like window air conditioners, I never had hung windows to install them that quickly!

It's either casement windows that need to be removed first or sliding windows in which I should fit a vertical unit but I don't have a vertical air conditioner!

Hung windows aren't very popular around here!

so sad

Very sad about Frank's passing. I know he did some imperfect things. But I think overall he was a good man and a talented man. RIP

good viewpoint

All those things are very true, Tom. And that is a positive viewpoint. It's just sad when someone leaves us. We miss him, and it is a loss for his wife and children.
