Oh the memories!
I had that same compactor that I got for a steal from the old Springfield, Ma Hobart office. Took it home in the back of the company car and my Mom loved it. There wasn't anything it couldn't crush. I have to admit, we beat the crap out of it for years and it was great to only have to put out one can of trash a week. You couldn't lift it for what we crushed all the time but it was cool. It sat as a stand alone next to the range and then we had it painted in edged coppertone like the KDS15 which by this time was a KDSS16!
We replaced the wood top with a new section of matching countertop when she redid the kitchen and added a wooden side panel to make it look totally built in.
When all the appliances match like these do, it doesnt look out of place anymore.
