..noticing a few of these around my area lately:Styled ~1965,but completely modern under the cladding and alloy wheels instead of wire spoke.Usually millenials are on the bikes,Hipsters probably would require actual vintage small motorcycles :)

What bikes are these...any links? I have seen a Triumph here and there that looked to be retro new but nothing else. Probably because I don't read up on bikes any more or go window shopping at dealerships, not that we really have much locally. I'm still riding my 98 Valkyrie sport/touring which may be my last bike although I was tempted last week when an acquaintance mentioned his older brother had died and they were looking to sell his 2018 Goldwing at a more than reasonable price. Just don't know if I want to go back to a full dresser because they're too ungainly for putzing around town. And besides, the Valkyrie is sexier. LOL.

Being as there's no license or insurance required I see a lot of fancier e-bikes in all sorts of style. Some do look convincingly like a small m/c with fake pipes etc. They're limited to I think around 29 mph here and not hiway legal but for zipping around town in good weather they look like fun .

yes! -especially if it "ring-ding-dings"nicely and fogs mosquitos with blue smoke as you ride along :) .I suppose my 2019 Coleman BTX 200 mini/trail bike could be modern retro with it's magneto driven chrome headlamp-it is a great little off-road bike with plenty of power from the 6.5 hp Honda clone engine.

The 2 stroke Yamaha is a 250cc number, which may mean it has as much power as a 4 stroke. It can certainly do wheelies, although not very well. That may be more the rider than the bike, though.

And yes, it does lay down a nice blue haze. LOL. It has an automatic 2 stroke oil injector setup, so pre-mixing is not required. If anything, it adds too much.

Haven't fired it up in anger for a long long time. Might need a carb clean out.

IIRC...

Yamaha's 1972 250 stroke twin was a DS7, I had one, along with a few other 2 strokes, then a bunch of Triumph 650s and 750s and Yamaha XS650 (the Japanese Bonneville). Still have a '73 Honda CB125 in the shed that I need to get it up and running again.

Suzuki still (I think) makes a cool little TU250 single retro bike, and Honda has reintroduced the Cub, as mentioned.

Yamaha "xs" "large motorcycles"

Co-worker spoke highly of the ~1980 XS1100 he had:plenty of power and speed,He was more careful with it after a spooky "tank slapper"speed wobble incident on it.
