Necessity IS the mother of Invention

I was scrounging around today for a good Soap Boot replacement as these boots are usually gone to dust. As mine was.
I had ordered an inner tube to cut up and when I tried that it was too small in circumference to work. WHAT A dissappointment. So I decided to move on to the dry test. I went to put on my electroproof gloves for protection against stray lightning bolts coming from the vintage and usually deadly cabinets.
As I was putting on my gloves I noticed how wide the opening was for my hand so wellllll you can see the rest below....

Envy

Isn't envy one of the 7 deadly sins? Guess I better start digging my grave, 'cause I'm sure envious. What a beautiful machine. They were fantastic machines -- and had their own, personal Bendix noises when they ran. Lord, I'd love to have a Bendix.

Fantastic restoration job. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like its going

to work because the trick is you need very thin rubber for the ridiculous press fit mechanism these models used on the top exterior panel. It is the most foolish attachment method I have ever seen. I can't believe it worked for so long. A thin stainless ring has to be inserted just so from left to right and then back to front and then again left to right to snap the rubber into place! So very thin durable rubber is needed and these gloves are very thin and durable.

I'll take pics if it works,
