All good things must come to an end-such as my 1978 BD Whirlpool LFA 5800 washer-it was in horrible condition, lots of issues, seized 3-port pump, mouse nest on tub ring, rusted out cabinet base, and who knows where else, parts getting obsolete-so it was time to let go of it-a new Speed Queen AWN412 washer takes it's place.

sad to hear about a classic BD biting the dust-but another one
was saved from the scrapheap this past week;a 1986 70 series,
grabbed at dump and fixed-had a bad pump and a few leaks
-now happily woo-wooing again,control panel got munched a bit
from being dumped out of a pickup but that is all fixed too.

time to find that camera..then figure out how to post the pics
LOL.Meanwhile here are more details on the saved machine;
"620"date code,so 20th week of 1986-close to the end of BD
production that started around 1957,have seen several other
'86s but no 1987 BDs.Besides the damage from being dumped
(bent up control panel,snubber dislodged,inside-out dent from
chassis plate slamming into cabinet),actually is in pretty good
shape-belt is even in good condition.
With a DA agitator,this washer is almost the same as my '81
70 series-color and panel graphics are the only difference.

it was in storage

It was in storage in my Dad's tractor shed on the dirt ground for several years-covered with dust-mice and critters built nests in it.
