i took 2 days off in a row, rented the home depot truck (as mine is notorious for breaking down on dishwasher runs) and took a short 6 hr. drive to visit matt and family (everythingold) in grand rapids mich. and see his appliance shop/home. i also did a bit of shopping and came back with 7 dishwashers and one very special washer! i took pics of everything and had a grand time in grand rapids to be sure! i am going to make several posts of this fun trip as to try to include everything in a single post would be exhausting to both read and write! so here we go to see "everythingold"!!!!

ok, first lets get the truck! this should do fine, it can hold about 9 machines!

here we are, our one stop shopping destination

as well as restaurant and hotel as matt and his lovely wife and son not only put me up for the night but fed me a great mexican dinner as well!

the first thing to catch my eye

was this antique looking stove! i thought it would make a good conversation peice if nothing else! it was a teaser of all the treats waiting for me inside!

once inside i was in a candy shop of appliances.

stacks and stacks of dishwashers, stoves, frigs, washers, dryers, and microwaves to name a few!!!

and tons of spare parts!

you name it he has it!!! a kitchenaid lover's delight!!!

i must have gone thru 5 rooms full of appliances and parts! and then the basement too!

look at this beautiful dryer!

if i was into dryers it would have come home with me but i had to save my room for dishwashers and my dream washer which i will show next!

now on to my dream washer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the washer i never thought i would own!!!!! the washer my aunt and uncle that raised me had and that fascinated me to no end! i used to do all the laundry just so i could watch it in operation.

here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a 1965 frigidaire jet action washer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and this washer runs great! and looks great!

my aunt had a late 60's custom imperial in

coppertone and this is a custom deluxe but i couldn't care that it's not an imperial. same tub, same jet action pulsator agitator, same sounds, same overflow rinse, same loud noisy timer "clicks" same magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

had to take an extra blood pressure pill

when i first laid eyes on it!

it runs great but i will be asking a lot of questions of you frigidaire experts later on as i start to use it. have many questions about lubing it, what to watch for etc. which i will post at a later date. i like that it is direct drive, no belts, no transmission oil or internal transmission, just a motor and some rollers all exposed! guess that's why it's called a "rollermatic" huh!?!

love that

spray arm with those huge water jets, i remember looking at that machine as a kid and wanting it so bad!

the tub and racks

are in pristine condition. the only thing i am missing is the origional silverware basket but that's ok. if anyone has on please let me know!

it is also in great shape, tub and rack wise

think i will have to replace water seal but parts are available as i already checked for my other frigidaire front loader that uses same pump.

5-14-2009-23-25-25--soberleaf.jpg

same pump

same big black spray arm, same tower as my other frigidaire. matt was excited that i now have a matching set, a top and front load portable frigidaire set!

another

see matt's cat "almost" in the left bottom corner, he was in and out of washers and dishwashers all day long!

on to dishwasher no 3

a kdi-57 imperial in avacado! i saw it and the avacado called my name! also love those wood tops. this is my second 57 front load portable! the other one is white and i got it off craigs list in columbus. i like this one better, must be the avacado! my favorite color!
