Thank you so much for posting this video

Brussels Sprouts are one of my favorite things. It's sad that once people decide they don't like them it seems there's no changing their minds. We used to drive to the Monterey/Salinas/Castroville (artichokes) area and buy sprouts on the stock like that. It's difficuilt to find them here in the Desert. Once again I'm amazed at all of the fruits and vegetables that are grown in your area.

PS..."We Remember Sam Cooke" by the Supremes (please, no Diana Ross &) is a wonderful album. You are fortunate to own it.

Joe - Brussels sprouts = great vegetable.

The Supremes "We Remember Sam Cooke" = great album.

Michigan is a wonderful state for produce, among other things...while winters can be challenging, it is a wonderful state to call home!

I changed my mind...

I hated, HATED, Brussels sprouts as a child - boiled. Then one of my friends started serving them roasted and I tried them and, lo and behold, I liked them. So they are in rotation for company, usually pan fried/roasted with garlic. Mmmm...

One of My Favorite Things....

....I adore Brussels sprouts, and always have. Unlike most children who will not eat any of the "cabbage-y" vegetables, I begged for sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, and the like. My grandmother used to put stuff like that in front of me when company was present, as a "party trick"; all the ladies present would marvel at the kid who would eat such things in preference to cake and candy.

What the marveling moms didn't know was that I would not - and still won't - eat that Southern culinary staple, sweet potato. Or yams. On those exceedingly rare occasions I've tried to eat them in spite of my disgust for them, they get to the vicinity of my Adam's apple and will go no further.

Mama Mac - God rest her soul - did try to persuade me when I was two or three. About the third time I spat regurgitated sweet potato all over her wall and floor, she gave up - and this was a lady who did not coddle kids. Thereafter, she took the sensible view that I ate plenty of things that were good for me, so what, after all, was the lack of a bit of sweet potato?

My mother, on the other hand....

Draw the veil.

As always Kevin

Great Video.

Brussels are one of my favorite veggies.

I'm not terribly range savvy... but is that a Crosley you're cooking on ?

Also... do you still have that Westinghouse Range ? The Westy is exactly like the one I grew up with.

Eddie - yes, that is a 1955 Crosley range. It is really a nice appliance - not a lot of features, but everything is in good working order and it bakes well. It was this year's pick for the cottage kitchen.

The Westinghouse is in my Detroit kitchen, which will be in greater use now that another cottage season has ended.

Thanks!!
